Life: Paperwork can DIAF

Sgt. SomeName: They put the assignment in as a regular assignment rather than a follow on.

Me: I understand the obvious difference but what does that mean in terms of this paperwork?

The family can report to the next duty station 60 days in advance of the report date for a regular assignment. The family of a person going overseas can be moved home and back or to the next duty station. No one knows why they put it in as an assignment instead of a follow on but because it was we have hit a number of snags in arranging my move.

They are working on a couple of different ways to get around this. They intend to go with whichever method is fastest. Either his orders will be changed to Oct. 1 (meaning Aug. 1 would be in my 60 day range) or they will move me "in lieu of" orders. I personally hope for the in lieu of because I would rather not pay August's rent and I want P to start school August 18th.

I cannot arrange for my utilities to be shut off until I know when I'm leaving.

A number of things are on hold while I continue to be stuck in this transition period.
